Announcement of the election of a candidate for Rector of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice

The University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Košice (hereinafter also referred to as "UPJŠ") hereby announces the election of a candidate for Rector of the University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Košice to be held on 20 April 2023 in the UPJŠ Historical Hall at Šrobárova 2, Košice, for the term of office from 22.08.2023 to 21.08.2027 in accordance with Section 10 (5) of the Act on Higher Education (hereinafter “the Act”), Article 14 of the UPJŠ Statute as amended by Appendix No. 6, and according to the Principles for the Election of a Candidate for Rector and Acceptance of the Proposal for Removal of the Rector of UPJŠ in Košice (hereinafter “the Principles”). The election of the candidate for the Rector of UPJŠ will take place during a joint electoral assembly consisting of all members of the UPJŠ Academic Senate and all members of the UPJŠ Board of Trustees.

The time period for submitting proposals for candidates for Rector of UPJŠ is set from 1  December 2022 to 24 March 2023. Proposals with annexes shall be submitted to the Office of the UPJŠ Academic Senate, Šrobárova 2, 041 80 Košice, through the UPJŠ Rectorate Filing Office, in a sealed envelope marked "Proposal of a Candidate for the Rector of UPJŠ" and must be delivered to the Filing Office by 24.3.2023 at 12:00 noon.

The candidate's proposal for Rector of UPJŠ (hereinafter also referred to as "the proposal") must include:

  1. name, surname, titles of the proposer,
  2. identification of the proposer in accordance with Article 1(2) of the Principles according to which the right to propose a candidate for the Rector of UPJŠ (hereinafter also referred to as "candidate") is vested in the members of the UPJŠ Academic Community and the members of the UPJŠ Board of Trustees,  
  3. address of permanent residence, E-mail, telephone number of the proposer,
  4. consent of the proposer to the processing of his/her personal data,
  5. name, surname, titles of the proposed candidate, 
  6. date of birth, permanent address, E-mail, telephone number of the proposed candidate,
  7. extract from the criminal record not older than 3 months,
  8. the proposed candidate's occupation, 
  9. place and date of submission of the proposal and the handwritten signature of the proposer.

The following hand-signed documents must be submitted as a compulsory annex to the proposal:

  1. a structured curriculum vitae of the proposed candidate showing the facts stated in  Section 10(6) of the Act, not exceeding more than 3 standard pages,
  2. a programme thesis with a proposal for the development strategy of UPJŠ, not exceeding more than 3 standard pages,
  3. a written declaration of the proposed candidate that he/she agrees with the candidacy,
  4. consent of the proposed candidate to the processing and publication of personal data for the purpose of candidacy for the Rector of UPJŠ, in particular the structured curriculum vitae and programme theses.
