1. What is necessary for issuing the apostille / legalization allonge for the documents in the scope of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth?
You will need:
- the application form
- original issue of the document that has to have the official (round) stamp and the signature of school director, rector, vice-rector, dean, or vice-dean, documents that consist of more pages that only have one signature must be properly bound and stamped by the issuing institution
- application fee which is 10 EUR per document (per signature)
The allonge is only issued to the original issue of the public document (document that bears the signature of the school official and original, atrament stamp of the round stamp of the school). The Ministry never issues the allonges to the certified/notarized copies or certfied translations (we do not have the competence to verify the signatures of notaries or sworn translators).
The application form as well as the information about the required documents and application fees can be found on the apostille / superlegalization subpage.
2. How does the apostille / legalization allonge look like? Is it alright to put it on the original of the document?
The apostille / legalization allonge has the form of a stamp that is placed right on the original document or firmly attached to it. The apostille allonge has a form that is prescribed by the Hague convention.
The stamp does not render the document invalid, on the contrary, the apostille process confirms the authenticity of the signature and stamp.
3. What documents can be given the apostille / legalization allonge at the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth?
Only the documents issued in the department of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic, e.g. public documents issued by elementary, secondary, or higher education institution signed by their officials and fitted with the round stamp.
There is an exception for education institutions that do not fall in the scope of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic, i.e. secondary medical schools, the Slovak Medical University, police schools, and military schools.
Credentials issued by branches of foreign schools in Slovakia are certified by their country of origin, it is necessary to contact the authorities of this country or its diplomatic/consular representation in Slovakia.
